Heinrich Weydmann

Emil Heinrich Niklaus Weydmann (born February 23, 1848 in St. Gallen ; † June 26, 1922 in Brunnhalde near Weissbad ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

Life

Weydmann was the son of the St. Gallen merchant Johann Philipp Weydmann, who came from Frankfurt am Main and was naturalized in 1830. He first studied law at the University of Bern and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1870 he was in the Corps Rhenania Heidelberg recipiert . As an inactive , he moved to the Royal University of Greifswald and the University of Zurich (1873/74). After graduating as Dr. iur. He initially settled as a lawyer in St. Gallen, but after marrying Anna Maria Inauen from Schwende in 1888, he moved to the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden . In 1894 he was elected - initially against his will - by the Landsgemeinde as a member of the Cantonal Court. From 1896 to 1905 he was the first Protestant and non-cantonal citizen to serve as its president. After leaving, he became involved in the liberal Progressive Party in Appenzell, albeit without a higher party office, and supported the party organ Anzeiger vom Alpstein , founded in 1907, financially and as a member of the editorial committee.
