Heinrich Wolrad (Waldeck)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Wolrad (born March 28, 1642 in Culemborg , † July 15, 1664 in Graz ) was Count von Waldeck- Eisenberg and Count von Cuylenburg from 1645 .

Life

He was the son of Count Philipp Dietrich (1614-1645) of Waldeck-Eisenberg and his wife Maria Magdalena of Nassau-Siegen . So he belonged to the Waldeck family . He was declared of legal age by the Emperor in 1659 and married Juliane Elisabeth von Waldeck- Wildungen, a daughter of Count Philip VII von Waldeck-Wildungen , on January 27, 1660 . The marriage remained childless.

After his father died early, his uncle Georg Friedrich took over the regency. Heinrich Wolrad resided at Eisenberg Castle , which was badly damaged by Hesse-Kassel troops in the Thirty Years' War in 1621 , and was the last to have the facility repaired. This is evidenced by his coat of arms and that of his wife with the year 1662. He tried with little success to have the Eisenberg gold mine put back into operation through a mining union .

He was on his way to join the imperial troops in the Turkish war of 1663/1664 against the Ottomans when he suddenly died in Graz . After his death, the county of Waldeck-Eisenberg fell to his uncle Georg Friedrich.
