Heinrich XXV. (* August 27, 1681 in Gera ; † March 13, 1748 ibid) ruled from 1735 to 1748 as Count Reuss zu Gera, a branch line of Reuss younger line .

Life

Heinrich XXV. was the seventh son of Heinrich IV. (1650–1686), Lord and Count of Gera, and his wife, Countess Anna Dorothea von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1645–1716).

At the age of 36, Heinrich married Countess Justine Eleonore Sophie von Giech-Thurnau , daughter of Count Karl Gottfried II von Giech-Thurnau , in Thurnau on February 21, 1717 . The marital happiness lasted less than a year, because Justine Eleonore Sophie died on February 1, 1718. Countess Palatine Sophie Marie von Pfalz-Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld-Gelnhausen became Heinrich's second wife. Both married on August 24, 1722 in Sondershausen. From this marriage there were three children:

  • Countess Sophie Henriette Dorothea (born June 13, 1723 in Gera; † August 27, 1789 ibid)
  • Countess Caroline (* † September 14, 1725 in Gera)
  • Count Heinrich XXX. Reuss zu Gera (born April 24, 1727 in Gera; † April 26, 1802 there)

When his older brother Heinrich XVIII. (1677–1735) died unmarried and childless on November 25, 1735, followed Heinrich to the throne of the county. After the death of Henry XV. Count Reuss zu Lobenstein became Heinrich XXV. in 1739 eldest of the Reuss younger line .

The name Heinrich XXV remains closely connected. with Tinz Castle , which he commissioned to build in 1745. In addition, Heinrich had the under his predecessor Heinrich XVIII. Complete the construction of the orangery in the Gera kitchen garden .

Heinrich died on March 13, 1748 and was buried on March 21, 1748 in the hereditary crypt of the former St. John's Church on Johannisplatz, where his first wife was already resting.
