Heinrich XXXIII. Reuss to Köstritz
Heinrich XXXIII. Prince Reuss zu Köstritz (born July 26, 1879 in Mauer near Vienna ; † November 15, 1942 in Stonsdorf , Lower Silesia Province ) was an imperial German embassy secretary, Rittmeister à la suite of the Prussian army and lieutenant in the 2nd Guards Dragoon Regiment " Empress Alexandra of Russia ” .
Life
He was the son of Prince Heinrich VII. Reuss-Köstritz and Princess Marie of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach , daughter of Grand Duke Carl Alexander of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Princess Sophie of Orange-Nassau , Princess of the Netherlands. He was a first lieutenant in the hussar regiment Landgrave Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg No. 14 in Kassel . Then he worked as a diplomat.
Political reception
His relationship to National Socialism - Heinrich XXXIII is to be assessed as problematic . Reuss wrote: Germany was "on the verge of the worst Bolshevism ". “God gave us the German leader Adolf Hitler ”, who built a “strong will [...] against this devastating flood” and saved not only Germany but all of Europe. One could not treat the "Bolsheviks and this whole pack [...] with ice cream gloves." The handling of the "Jewish question" does not understand abroad, since it is "not yet in the state of Judaization".
When Prince Reuss had to leave the NSDAP because he had been a member of the Grand State Lodge of the Freemasons of Germany until 1931/32 , his anti-Semitism became clear. This order, of which Friedrich Leopold of Prussia was the master of the order, was said to have been “probably the only bourgeois institution” to wage a “sharp fight” against the “creeping expansion of Judaism in Germany”.

Heinrich XXXIII. Prince Reuss-Köstritz married Princess Viktoria Margarete of Prussia on May 17, 1913 in the New Palace in Potsdam (born April 17, 1890 in Potsdam; † September 9, 1923 in the hunting lodge Klein Glienicke ), daughter of Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia and Princess Louise Sophie of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg .
