Heinrich von Schönberg

Heinrich von Schönberg (* 1549 in Purschenstein ; † October 25, 1616 in Frauenstein ) was an electoral Saxon councilor and governor and manor owner .

Life

Frauenstein Castle

He came from the Saxon noble family von Schönberg and was born at Purschenstein Castle, where a line of his family had been based since the late Middle Ages.

Like many of his family members, he embarked on an administrative career in the service of the Albertine Wettins . He went to the court in Dresden , where he rose to council and official governor.

In the years from 1585 to 1588 he had the Frauenstein Castle in the Ore Mountains built in the Renaissance style according to the plans of the electoral Saxon master builder Hans Irmisch .

The funeral sermon given by the Freiberg pastor and superintendent Abraham Genssreff on the occasion of his solemn burial in 1616 was published by Georg Hoffmann in Freiberg.

Heinrich von Schönberg carried the coat of arms emblazoned as follows : In gold, a lion divided by red and green . On the helmet with red and gold covers a red lion's trunk.
