The Heinz Schleusser Marina is a sport boat harbor on the Rhine-Herne Canal (km 10.7) in the New Center - Oberhausen .

After nine months of construction, the marina, named after the trade unionist , Oberhausen leader of the SPD council and temporary finance minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Heinz Schleusser , was opened by the then Prime Minister Peer Steinbrück . The port area of 110 by 70 meters offers 60 sports boats on the quay wall and berths. With a water depth of 3.50 (entrance) to 2.50 meters (rear part) larger boats can also moor. The service facilities include a faeces suction system, a 3.2-ton crane, sanitary and supply facilities. A slipway is missing.

The marina was financed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (regional economic development program RWP), the EU ( European fund for regional development ) and the Oberhausener Bauförderungsgesellschaft.

The Sealife Oberhausen , a fresh and salt water aquarium with a focus on the Atlantic Ocean, a spy museum (in the rooms of the former Oberhausen model railway world ), and since November 2009 the adventure exhibition "Gods, Spirits and Demons" and that in December are located directly at the marina "Aquapark" leisure pool completed in 2009 . Shortly behind it are the CentrO shopping center , the Metronom Theater musical stage , the Sea Life Adventure Park (formerly CentrO Park), the Oberhausen Gasometer and the König-Pilsener-Arena .

A little further on the Rhine-Herne Canal (km 9.2) is the Neue Mitte water hiker's resting place, where passenger ships also dock.

The namesake Heinz Schleusser had to resign from his office as NRW finance minister on January 26th, 2000 because he flew on vacation with prostitutes at the expense of WestLB . The prostitutes were disguised as stewardesses. WestLB got the money back through inflated bills, so that in the end the taxpayer paid for the pleasure trips.
