from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz Bühler (born June 17, 1920 in Heidenheim ; † May 9, 1992 in South Tyrol ) was a German historian .

Life

After graduating from high school and immediately following military service in the Wehrmacht, Bühler studied history, geography and French from 1946 to become a teacher in Erlangen and Tübingen . In 1952 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the history of the Heidenheim rule up to the end of the 16th century . Then he started a teaching career, during which he worked most of the time at the Hellenstein High School in Heidenheim. There he became director of studies and department head in 1972. On the side, and then even more intensively as a pensioner, he devoted himself to researching medieval history in southern Germany.

Create

On the basis of his dissertation he deepened and broadened the topic of his research. He was credited with services particularly in relation to the expansion of knowledge about the early medieval Counts of Dillingen and the family of St. Ulrich (Bishop of Augsburg). He achieved even greater fame through his work to prove the origin of the Staufer from counts and their descent from the Ries (see also " Riesgau "). His genealogical-property-historical approach, which brought more than 70 noble families of the early and high Middle Ages in relation to one another, was rated in part as groundbreaking with "astute and well-founded hypotheses", but also as "unhesitating back projection" from the 14th . or 15th century tangible ownership structure criticized on earlier centuries.
