Heinz Craatz

Heinz Craatz (born September 18, 1918 in Berlin ; † March 24, 2018 there ) was a German SPD politician . He belonged to his party from 1934 until his death.

Life

Craatz grew up in Kreuzberg . His father was already a member of the SPD and in the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . He completed his apprenticeship as a baker and confectioner. At the beginning of the Second World War he was drafted into the milling of gears, after which he was deployed as a soldier in France and was taken prisoner of war. He later worked in the Wedding District Office as an auxiliary welfare officer and in the official guardianship .

At the age of ten Craatz became a member of Kinderfreunde , a predecessor organization of the Falcons . In 1930 he took part in the Children's Republic in Switzerland . After the war he joined the Young Socialists in Wedding, and in the local SPD branch he took over the offices of department cashier and department chairman.

In the Berlin election in 1967 he won a seat in the House of Representatives , to which he belonged for an electoral term until 1971. From 1977 to 1985 he was a member of the Wedding District Assembly . His focus was on youth policy and training positions.
