Heinz Eickmans

Heinz Theodor Eickmans (born February 16, 1953 in Goch ) is a German Dutch scholar and Germanist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Eickmans studied Dutch , German and general linguistics at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck in Münster . In 1986 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on Gerard van der Schueren's Theutonista . After teaching at the universities in Münster and Leipzig , Eickmans has been Professor of Dutch Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen since 2006 . He is also chairman of the Niederrhein Academy / Academie Nederrijn eV in Xanten and managing director of the Institute for Lower Rhine Cultural History and Regional Development at the University of Duisburg-Essen , based in Essen .
