Worth is the name of a district of Lüdenscheid and today belongs for the most part to the statistical district 04 ( Tinsberg / Kluse ) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . Especially the streets Worthnocken, Am Worthang, Worthstraße and parts of Werdohler Straße as well as the surrounding streets are counted as Worth. The Vogelberg district joins north of the Worth . In the south of the Tinsberg lies the district of Kluse and in the west of the district of Tinsberg, while the districts of Eichholz and Honsel adjoin it in the east .

history

The popularly known “Schnurre” small train operated by the Altenaer Eisenbahn district contributed significantly to the development of the district. It connected the two industrial cities of Lüdenscheid and Werdohl via the Höhensattel and through the Versetal and ensured that both people and goods could be transported more easily to the Worth above. The role as a transport route was largely taken over by the federal highway B229 and other roads in the city after the discontinuation of the small railway .

Infrastructure

The structure of the district is mainly characterized by many detached single-family houses and terraced houses. In the course of the further part of the city some apartment buildings were built. Many of the houses have been extensively renovated in recent years.

On October 12, 1952, the Evangelical Kreuzkirche was inaugurated on Worthstrasse. Since the old church building had become too small due to the large number of visitors to the service, planning of a new and larger church began in 1957. Therefore, in 1965 the new Kreuzkirche was consecrated right next to the old church at Worthstrasse 51. In 1965 the new parish hall on Annabergstrasse was also inaugurated. Especially children and young people as well as the needy are the focus of the church work of the Kreuzkirche.

In March 2012, construction work began on Worthstrasse for a new parish hall of the Kreuzkirche, which was inaugurated in May 2013. A renovation of the youth rooms in the Kreuzkirche building is also planned. In addition, the church tower is to be rebuilt due to massive damage.

The Albert Schweitzer School Lüdenscheid (ASH) is currently located at Kaiserallee 28. It is a community secondary school in the city of Lüdenscheid. Since the school is to be closed in the summer of 2014, there is currently discussion in politics about a subsequent use of the building. As a result, the school has not been allowed to accept new students since summer 2012. From summer 2014 the school is to be integrated into the existing Stadtpark all-day secondary school in the Stüttinghausen district . [obsolete] According to politicians, there is basically the possibility of founding a new secondary school in Lüdenscheid. The closure of the existing Albert Schweitzer School came about because the parents in the city of Lüdenscheid, despite numerous efforts, no longer adequately accepted the number of registrations. For this reason, the Hauptschule Wefelshohl had previously been integrated into the Albert Schweitzer School on the Worth. There was massive criticism of the closure of the Albert Schweitzer School in 2011 and a total of 1,346 signatures from Lüdenscheid citizens against the closure of the school were collected.
