Heinz Georg Schuster

Heinz Georg Schuster (* 1943 ) is a retired German physicist and university professor.

Life

After studying physics at the Friedrich-Alexander University (Erlangen) , he received his doctorate in 1971 under Wolfgang Klose at the University of Saarbrücken . After a stay at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in the USA , he completed his habilitation in 1975 in Saarbrücken for theoretical physics. In 1976 he was offered a professorship at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University ( Frankfurt am Main ) and in 1986 moved to a chair at the Institute for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics at the Christian Albrechts University ( Kiel ), where he remained until his retirement 2008 stayed.

He was visiting professor at the Weizmann Institute for Science in Rechovot ( Israel ) and at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena .

An introduction to chaos theory, widely used as a textbook, comes from him .
