Heinz Junghans

Heinz Eberhard Junghans (born August 18, 1932 in Braunschweig ) is a German surgeon and jazz musician ( trumpet , orchestra conductor).

Live and act

Junghans, who is a self-taught musician , studied medicine in Hamburg and then worked there as a specialist in surgery in hospitals. In 1952 he co-founded the Hamburg Riverside Jazz Band , in which he played until 1959. Then he founded his own band, with which he played weekly at the Hamburg Cotton Club Dixieland . He later played New Orleans jazz with his jazzmen . Musicians such as Werner Böhm , Gottfried Böttger and Gerhard Vohwinkel played in his bands .

Junghans also performed with Benny Waters , Eggy Ley , Monty Sunshine , René Franc , Papa Bue and Beryl Bryden . In 1961 he was invited to an NDR jazz workshop with Rolf Kühn and Fatty George . In addition to the latter, he can also be heard at the Telefunken LP Hot Jazz in Germany from 1956 to 1958 .
