Heinz Meyer (born January 6, 1897 in Bremen ; † October 14, 1959 in Bremen) was a German SPD politician .

biography

education and profession

Meyer worked as a commercial clerk in the 1920s. He completed his professional knowledge through self-study from 1921 to 1927 and through studies from 1928 to 1929 at the Academy of Work in Frankfurt am Main . From 1929 he took the position of a deputy in-house counsel at the Employees' Chamber in Bremen . From 1937 to 1945 he worked as a commercial clerk.

After the war , he took on the role of managing director of the Bremische Bau- und Siedlungsgesellschaft GmbH from 1945 .

politics

Meyer was initially a member of the DDP , but joined the SPD in 1924.

In 1933 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship for a short time . During the time of National Socialism he was taken into protective custody in 1934 and had to spend the years from 1935 to 1936 in prison because of his resistance.

From July 10 to December 4, 1947 Meyer was a member of the Bremen citizenship for the SPD . Then he was from December 18, 1947 to 1949 for Bremen member of the economic council of the Bizone .

He belonged to the German Bundestag in its first legislative period from 1949 to 1953 as a directly elected member of the constituency of Bremen-Ost . From January 31, 1951 until the end of the electoral term, he was chairman of the Bundestag committee for building and land law.

Union work

Meyer was represented as a functionary in the German Employees' Union (DAG) after the Second World War .
