Heinz Seiler

Heinz Seiler (born April 23, 1920 in Fraureuth ; † September 15, 2002 ) was a German handball trainer and player .

Seiler was in the squad of the GDR national team and played three field handball international matches (1 goal) for the selection. From 1953, Seiler was the selection coach of the GDR men's selection and remained so until May 1976. He then acted as the "head coach" of the DHV, which was a purely administrative post. His long-time assistant coach Paul Tiedemann followed him as the men's coach .

As a selection coach, he supervised the joint German selection at the handball world championship (WM) in 1958 (third place), the field handball world championship in 1959 (world champion) and the 1961 World Cup (fourth place). He was coach of the East German team in the field Handball World Championship 1963 (world champion), World Cup 1964 , Field Handball World Cup 1966 , World Cup 1967 , World Cup 1970 (runners-up) and 1974 World Cup (runners-up).

Seiler was active in various commissions of the international handball federation in the 1980s .
