Heinz Volpert

Heinz Volpert (born December 21, 1932 in Rastenberg ; died February 15, 1986 ) was the head of the special field of foreign exchange procurement / release of prisoners in the GDR Ministry for State Security .

Life

Heinz Volpert attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as an agricultural assistant between 1947 and 1950. In 1948 Volpert joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany . In 1950 he was employed by the People's Police (Schutzpolizei Weimar ) and in 1951 moved to the Ministry for State Security, State Administration Thuringia, where he did his job as a driver.

In 1951 and 1952, Volpert completed a course at the MfS school in Potsdam-Eiche and then moved to what was then the Rudolstadt district directorate . Then Volpert became deputy head of Department V, responsible for combating underground movements , in the Gera district administration . In 1954, Volpert became deputy head of department V at the headquarters of the MfS in Berlin, which was responsible for the defense against centers of political underground activity , where he became head of department in 1956. From 1960 to 1965, Volpert completed a distance learning course at the MfS University in Potsdam-Eiche and graduated as a lawyer . In 1964 he became deputy head of his main department, which was renamed in March 1964 from main department V to main department XX.

In 1969, Volpert was transferred to the management office , from which the minister's secretariat was formed in 1971 , to carry out special tasks , where he was responsible as a special representative for foreign exchange procurement and the release of prisoners . In 1970 the doctorate to Dr. jur. together with Alexander Schalck-Golodkowski . (Title of the dissertation on the fight against imperialist disturbance in the field of foreign trade. ) In 1972 he was promoted to colonel and in 1975 received the Patriotic Order of Merit in Gold.
