Heinz Witte (born April 11, 1929 - † March 8, 1958 ) was a German football player. In the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , was active from 1952 to 1953 for BSG Motor Gera .

Athletic career

After Heinz Witte had already played football at the lower class SG Gera Nord, he joined the GDR upper division Motor Gera in the 1951/52 season. However, he was only used in the last three league games of the company sports community (BSG) . He took over the position of the previous regular player Gerhard Friemel on the right side of the defense. In the 1952/53 season, too, Witte came into play late. At the 11th league game of the Geraer instead of the defender Kurt Golde was called up. Then it took until the 28th matchday before he played the last ten league games for defender Werner Koehler . In all these missions he played again on the right defender. At the end of the season, the BSG, which had since been renamed the BSG Wismut, rose from the league after four seasons.

In the second-rate GDR league, Heinz Witte managed to play his way into the core team of BSG Wismut. Always used as a right defender, he played 109 second division games in 117 league games until 1957. Also for the 1958 season (calendar year season) he was again nominated for the Wismut squad. However, before the start of the season he fell ill with flu, from which he died on March 8, 1958 due to being abducted.
