Heisfelde is a district of Leer (East Friesland) in the German state of Lower Saxony .

history

In 1810, Heisfeld came together with Leerort , Bollinghausen and Hohegaste through the Napoleonic territorial reform to " Mairie Leer" . Between 1840 and 1850 Heisfelde had around 300 to 400 inhabitants who almost exclusively managed their own houses and farms. Mainly arable and flax cultivation was practiced. With the construction of the railway and the opening of two paper mills in Leer, an influx of workers began, who mostly lived for rent and construction activity increased (especially in the area of today's Heisfelder Straße). The population increased in the period from 1860 to 1870 to 600 to 700 and the number of buildings doubled. In a count before 1887, the number of inhabitants had already risen to over 800, which is why the one-class school built in 1779 became two-class after several extensions. The place was incorporated in 1968.

Infrastructure

There is a rifle club, a sports club ("Verein für Rasensport" - VfR), a fanfare group and the volunteer fire brigade . The local recreation area Windelkampsweg in Heisfelde serves as a park for the citizens. There are two kindergartens, the Ev.-luth. Pauluskindergarten and the Kunterbunt Kindergarten.

Personalities

The politician Günther Boekhoff was born in Heisfelde.
