The Hiltrop combined heat and power plant is a natural gas-powered combined heat and power plant operated by Stadtwerke Bochum and built as a combined cycle power plant . It is located in Hiltrop , a district of Bochum .

In 2015 it was modernized for 20 million euros, whereby the existing gas turbine was replaced with a modern one. Since then it has been operated by a Siemens SGT-700 B turbine . The electrical output of the new gas and steam turbines together is 44  MW , the overall efficiency including district heating extraction is up to 88%.

The power plant supplies up to 20,000 apartments in the Bochum districts of Gerthe, Kornharpen and in the city center.
