Helene Duchess of Württemberg , born Archduchess of Austria , full name Helene Marie Alice Christine Josefa Anna Margareta Madeleine Walburga Blandina Cäcilie Philomena Carmela Ignatia Rita de Cascia ; (Born October 30, 1903 in Linz ; † September 8, 1924 in Tübingen ) was the daughter of Archduke Peter Ferdinand of Austria-Tuscany and Princess Maria Christina of Bourbon-Sicily .

Life

Archduchess Helene was the second child and the oldest daughter of her parents. She grew up with her three siblings in Salzburg and Vienna . After the end of the First World War and the abolition of the monarchy in 1918, Helene's family moved to Lucerne, Switzerland .

On October 24, 1923, she married Philipp Herzog von Württemberg (1893–1975) in Altshausen . He was the son of Albrecht von Württemberg and his wife, Archduchess Margarete Sophie of Austria .

She died just one year later as a result of the birth of her only child, Marie Christine, later Princess of Liechtenstein. She was 20 years old. Her husband was deeply affected by the loss, and in 1928 he married her younger sister Rosa .
