Princess Maria Christina of Bourbon-Sicily, full name Maria Christina Carolina Pia Carmela Giuseppa Antonia Anna Luitgarda Speranza Lucia Caterina Apollonia Cecilia Agata ; (* April 10, 1877 in Cannes ; † October 4, 1947 in St. Gilgen ) was titular Grand Duchess of Tuscany from February 28, 1942 to October 4, 1947 .

Life

Maria Christina was a daughter of Alfonso Maria di Borbone , Prince of Bourbon and Naples-Sicily, and Maria Antonietta di Borbone , Princess of Bourbon-Sicily . She married Archduke Peter Ferdinand of Austria-Tuscany on November 8, 1900 in Cannes , a son of the former Grand Duke Ferdinand IV of Tuscany and his wife Princess Alicia of Bourbon-Parma . From this marriage there were four children.

After the end of the First World War in 1918, the family went into exile in Switzerland , but returned to Austria during the Schuschnigg era . Maria Christina died on October 4, 1947 at the age of 70 in St. Gilgen, Austria.
