Helga Lippelt
Helga Lippelt (born September 26, 1943 in Insterburg ) is a German writer .
Life
Helga Lippelt was born in Insterburg in East Prussia in 1943 . After being expelled from East Prussia at the end of the war, she grew up with mother and grandmother in the small Saxon town of Penig. Her father, the writer Max Lippold, died in 1946 in Soviet captivity.
After high school and textile printer apprenticeship, she completed a degree at the engineering school for textile technology in Reichenbach / Vogtland and worked as a textile engineer in a project planning office in Leipzig until 1979. Four years after submitting her application to leave the country, she was “released” from her GDR citizenship and moved to the Federal Republic in 1980. She moved to Düsseldorf, where she has lived as a freelance writer since 1983.
Helga Lippelt is the author of novels, short stories and poems. She became best known for her novels about the fate of the inhabitants of the East Prussian village of Popelken before and after the expulsion in 1945.
Helga Lippelt is a member of the Association of German Writers.
