Helge Antoni

Helge Antoni (born April 25, 1956 in Malmö ) is a Swedish pianist .

Life

On his father's side, Helge Antoni comes from a family of musicians. His mother, who was born in Augsburg, was an acrobat. Antoni began studying piano with Stanislav Knor at the Malmö Conservatory and, after being the first Swedish musician to be awarded the British Council Fellowship in 1978, continued with Peter Feuchtwanger in London for four more years . In 1982 he had his first international appearances at the May Musical in Bordeaux and in the Salle Gaveau in Paris.

Antoni has given concerts as a soloist with orchestra and as a recital and chamber musician in London in St. John's Smith Square, in Wigmore Hall, in Zurich in the Tonhalle, in The Hague in the Philipszaal, in Bonn in the Beethoven Hall, in Poland in the birthplace by Chopin in Zelazowa Wola. In Italy he was the first pianist to give two concerts (“Hommage à W. Kempff”) at the invitation of Wilhelm Kempff's Casa Orfeo Foundation in Positano. In Washington DC he made guest appearances in the Kennedy Center, in Chicago in the Orchestra Hall, in San Francisco in the Masonic Hall, in Lima (Peru) in the Sociedad Filarmonica, in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in the Sala Dorada. As a chamber musician , Antoni gave concerts with the sopranos Elisabeth Söderström and Janet Perry , with the trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger and with the Salzburg Chamber Soloists on a Mozart tour in the USA and Canada.

He was the artistic director of the late summer night festival in Norway and musical director of the Villa San Michele Foundation on Capri. From 2004 to 2008 Helge Antoni lived in Lima , where he founded a foundation and, in addition to his concert activities, mainly supported poor music students. He works regularly with the University of Witten / Herdecke , where he has been teaching fundamentals since 2002 as part of his studies and giving concerts.

CDs by Helge Antoni have been published by Etcetera with piano works by Sinding , Grieg , Rossini as well as Chopin and John Field . The Swedish label dB Productions has released the CD “The Piano Experience”, which contains 300 years of piano music from Couperin to Arvo Pärt .
