Helge Ritter
Helge Ritter (born March 17, 1958 in Naila ) is a German neuro-computer scientist and professor at Bielefeld University .
Ritter studied mathematics and physics. He received his doctorate from the Technical University of Munich in the field of theoretical physics. He chose " Self-Organizing Maps " as the topic . After a guest stay at Teuvo Kohonen in Helsinki, after several different stays, he followed a call to Bielefeld University, where he has headed the Neuroinformatics group since 1990 .
In professional circles, Ritter became known primarily for his work in the field of self-organizing maps, where he introduced the term hyperbolic self-organizing map.
Ritter has been coordinator of the Center of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology at Bielefeld University since 2007 and was confirmed in his office on July 9, 2014.
Ritter has been a full member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2010 .
Awards
- In 2001, Ritter received the most highly endowed German sponsorship award, the Leibniz Prize . From the appreciation:
