Helge Trimpert

Helge Trimpert (born June 26, 1951 in Halle ) is a German film director , documentary filmmaker and author.

After graduating from high school, Trimpert completed a traineeship as a director at German television broadcasting . In 1971 he began studying directing at the Film and Television Academy (HFF) in Potsdam-Babelsberg, which he graduated in 1974. He then worked as an assistant director and film director in the DEFA studio for feature films until the fall of the Berlin Wall . Freelance since 1991.

In 1979 he staged his first directorial work with the 30-minute contemporary diploma film Rauch ohne Feuer, based on a short story by Joachim Nowotny , which was well received by critics from the GDR.
