Hellbringer is an Australian black and thrash metal band from Canberra that was founded in 2007 under the name Forgery .

history

The band was founded in 2007 under the name Forgery. At first she only played covers for bands such as Venom , Sodom and Slayer , shortly afterwards she started writing her own pieces. After a demo and EP were released, the band changed their name to Hellbringer after a Norwegian band called Forgery had signed with Candlelight Records ; the musicians and Costa Stoios of Iron Pegasus Records thought a renaming advisable to avoid confusion or problems. In 2011 the band released a self-titled EP on Iron Pegasus Records. In 2012 the band released their debut album Dominion of Darkness on High Roller Records .

style

The band plays a mix of Thrash and Black Metal, with bands like Deströyer 666 , Mortal Sin , Gospel of the Horns , early Slayer, Possessed and Armored Angel . Luke Bennett names Sodom as the main influence, as well as Venom and bands like Destruction , Hobbs' Angel of Death , Armored Angel and the early works of Slayer and Kreator . The songs deal with dark and evil subjects, but the band “doesn't take satanic issues very seriously. We just think it goes with the music we mostly play and it goes with the aesthetic. On the other hand, one cannot say that we are not interested in such topics. "
