The Majorcan hellebore ( Helleborus lividus ) is a species of the buttercup family . It is closely related to the Corsican hellebore ( Helleborus argutifolius Viv.); both were therefore considered earlier as subspecies of a species, Helleborus lividus .

The Mallorcan hellebore is an evergreen, perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 20 to 50 (65) centimeters. The species forms a rhizome . The leaflets have loose veins and have more or less entire margins, only when they are young do they have stronger teeth. Its top is marbled by the silver-white to yellowish veins.
The flowering period extends from December to April.
The chromosome number is 2n = 32.
Occurrence
The Mallorcan Hellebore occurs in Mallorca and Cabrera in north-exposed locations on fresh, stony soils as well as in wall and rock niches of brook gorges.
use
The Mallorcan hellebore is not hardy in Central Europe and is therefore only rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and alpine houses.
