The series was produced by Tommy Wirkola and Tappeluft Pictures for NRK . Some critics compared it to the American cult series Twin Peaks . Will Ferrell and Adam McKay secured the remake rights to the series for the American market in order to develop it for Showtime .

The series has nothing in common with the Hellfjorden fjord . It was shot in summer 2011 in Gryllefjord on the island of Senja and in Øverbygd (film camp).

action

The Norwegian crime series is about the policeman Salmander from Oslo , who shoots his police horse during a parade in front of hundreds of children and is therefore sentenced to Hellfjord for three months until he is released. There he meets the Lensman Kobba and the journalist Johanne. Since Salmander is a southerner with Pakistani roots and now meets a conservative original Norwegian as a partner, humorous situations often arise, which always brighten the drama and dark tension of the episodes a little.
