Hellmut Geringer

Hellmut Geringer (born May 25, 1912 in Vienna ; † October 4, 1989 there ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a post office director, Geringer studied law at the University of Vienna after attending the Bundesrealschule and the Obergymnasium in Horn . After he had belonged to the Ferialis Waldmark at school , he became a member of the Vienna academic fraternity of Albia during his studies in 1932 . He was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . In 1938 he became head of the tax department of Hanf-, Jute- und Textilit AG in Vienna and in 1939 head of department of Treibacher Chemischen Werke AG , where he worked until 1979.

He took part in the Second World War, most recently as a first lieutenant in the reserve , and was taken prisoner of war in 1945 , from which he was released in 1946. In 1949, the year the party was founded, he became a member of the Association of Independents (VdU). From 1950 to 1964 he was a member of the parish council of Treibach-Althofen , as well as from 1967 to 1970 and from 1973 to 1979; from 1964 to 1965 he was the mayor there . In 1965 he became executive or deputy, from 1966 to 1972 regional party chairman of the FPÖ regional group Carinthia. He was also a member of the federal party executive and from 1956 belonged to the Carinthian party court . From 1965 to 1975 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament , where he was, among other things, chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Committee until 1970 and then a member of the Legal and Constitutional Committee until 1975. In the election of the Carinthian governor on March 20, 1970, Geringer received three votes and thus got the second-most votes behind the winner Hans Sima .
