Helma Kuhn-Theis
Helma Kuhn-Theis (born January 24, 1953 in Thailen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and top candidate for the CDU Saar in the 2014 European elections.
Live and act
After graduating from high school , Kuhn-Theis completed a teaching degree in German and sports for secondary school at Saarland University . She completed her legal clerkship in St. Wendel and then became a teacher at the Theley district secondary school and the Wadern secondary school . Kuhn-Theis is married and has one daughter.
Kuhn-Theis has been a member of the CDU Thailen since 1974. Since 1989 she has been a member of the Weiskirchen municipal council . Since 1991 she has been a member of the CDU regional executive committee and from 1998 to 2011 she was chairwoman of the CDU community association Weiskirchen. She has been chairman of the Merzig-Wadern CDU district association since 2011; before that, she had been deputy chairman alongside her predecessor Jürgen Schreier since 1993 .
Kuhn-Theis became a member of the state parliament in 1994, and a year later in 1999 she was elected a member of the Thailen local council and mayor of Thailen. Since 2002 she has held the office of 1st alderman of the Weiskirchen community. From 2002 to 2012 she was a member of the Committee of the Regions and a member of the Interregional Parliamentary Council. From 2004 to 2012 she was deputy parliamentary group leader of the CDU parliamentary group in the Saarland state parliament. In May 2012 the position of the representative for European affairs of the Saarland was newly created and filled with Kuhn-Theis; she resigned her state parliament mandate when she took office. For them, Stefan Palm moved up in the CDU parliamentary group. On January 28, 2014, she was elected the CDU Saar's top candidate for the upcoming European elections.
In addition, Kuhn-Theis is chairman of the Initiative Jugend und Zukunft eV, Thailen, deputy chairwoman of the Kneipp-Bund Saarland and a member of the presidium of the state sports association.
