Helmut Buhsfeld (born March 17, 1951 ) is a former German soccer player .

career

The young striker began playing football in the youth of Sportfreunde Katernberg and joined local rivals Rot-Weiss Essen as an A-youth . From 1972 he played for three years in the second-rate Regionalliga West for Eintracht Gelsenkirchen . In the 1973/74 season , the Gelsenkirchen team could not qualify for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga, Helmut Buhsfeld scored five goals in 28 missions and only ended up on rank 16 with the club. After a year with the Westphalian league club Erler SV 08 , with which he reached 7th place in the table, Buhsfeld moved in 1976 to the reigning Lower Rhine champions 1. FC Bocholt . In the 1976/77 season he celebrated promotion to the Second Bundesliga North with the club , where he scored seven goals in 31 games this season, but could not prevent relegation. In the summer of 1978 he joined the North Rhine upper division Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . With ten goals this season in 32 missions, the attacker was instrumental in winning the title in the premier season of the Oberliga and managed to return to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1979 with the Red-Whites . For the newcomer to the class, Buhsfeld scored twice in the away game at Wuppertaler SV on the first match day of the second division season 1979/80 and thus ensured the Oberhausen 2-1 victory. At the end of the season he scored eight goals in 35 appearances and managed to stay up with RWO.

Helmut Buhsfeld played a total of 66 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored 15 goals.

The former RWO professional has lived in Ihringen am Kaiserstuhl for several years . Since 2007 he has been a trainer at the Freiburg suburb SV Opfingen .
