Helmut Hinkel

Helmut Hinkel (born November 17, 1943 in Worms ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , church historian , librarian , author and publicist, priest .

Life

He completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller . After a few years working in the Schöningh bookstore in Mainz on Augustinerstraße, he obtained his Abitur on a second educational path . He entered the Mainz seminary and began studying theology at the University of Mainz . He received his doctorate in 1976 as a research assistant to Anton Philipp Brück . Hermann Volk ordained him as a priest on June 30, 1979 in Mainz Cathedral . After a position as chaplain in Biddesshem and a post as a religion teacher in Bad Nauheim , he became a pastor in the parish of St. Marien in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg in 1983 . At the beginning of 1985 he was also appointed scientific director of the library of the Mainz seminary . In mid-1985 he moved to the pastoral care of St. Ignaz (Mainz) , St. Quintin (Mainz) and the Mainz Cathedral. He was pastor of the Holy Cross Church (Mainz) and is still Rector ecclesiae of the chapel of the mother house of the Sisters of Divine Providence (Mainz) .
