Helmut Kramer (economist)

Helmut Kramer (born July 4, 1939 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian economist. Kramer was director of the Austrian Institute for Economic Research from 1981 to 2005 and rector of Danube University Krems from 2005 to 2007 .

Professional background

Helmut Kramer, who was born in 1939 in the Vorarlberg state capital Bregenz and grew up in Vorarlberg, studied law at the law faculty of the University of Vienna . At the University of Vienna , he was also the 1963 Doctor of Law (Dr. iur.) Graduated .

From 1971 to 1981, Kramer was deputy head of WIFO, the Austrian Institute for Economic Research , and held a seminar on finance at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . From 1981 to 2005 he was head of the WIFO and at the same time a member of the advisory board for economic and social issues in Vienna. From 1986 to 1993 he held a seminar on European integration at the University of Vienna, and in 1991 he was appointed honorary professor for Austrian economic policy.

In 2005 Helmut Kramer taught macroeconomic politics of the European Union at the University of Innsbruck . In the same year he was elected rector of Danube University Krems , which he remained until 2007. Kramer is currently a member of the board of the Austrian Platform for Interdisciplinary Aging (ÖPIA) and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Upper Austrian think tank ACADEMIA SUPERIOR - Society for Future Research .
