Helmut Lück (born April 17, 1952 ) is a former German soccer player. In 1975/76 he played for the company sports community (BSG) Chemie Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the highest league in GDR football .

Athletic career

Before Helmut Lück joined the second-rate GDR league club BSG Stahl Brandenburg in 1973 , he had played in the third-rate district league with BSG Chemie Premnitz . In the Brandenburger company sports association he was initially only a substitute player in the GDR league season 1973/74. It was not until the 8th match day that he came to his first appearance, which was immediately followed by two more point games as a defender. In the course of the second half of the season he became a regular player with seven appearances. In the 1974/75 season, Lück was left defender at Stahl Brandenburg. He was only absent from three league games at the end of the season, among other things because of a field expulsion . After Lück had served the last day of suspension at the beginning of the 1975/76 season, nine point games followed without interruption, as before as a left-back. He was singled out several times by fuwo as the best player in his team.

Three game days before the winter break, Helmut Lück moved to the top division Chemie Leipzig. There he replaced the previous standard defender Volker Trojan, who had left the Leipzig team, and was used as a central defender in 14 games in the following league games. However, there was no continuation in the league for Lück, as Chemie Leipzig had to relegate at the end of the season. In the GDR league season 1966/77, Lück was called up at intervals in twelve point games. His actual position, right defender, was an experimental field for coach Karl Schäffner , on which he used a wide variety of players. In the eight league promotion games that Chemie Leipzig completed as the season winner, but failed, Luck only played a minor role. In his three missions he was only in the starting XI.

For the 1977/78 season, Luck returned to Chemistry Premnitz, where they had been back in the GDR league for a year. There she was able to assert herself again as a regular player until 1980. In these three seasons Lück played 63 appearances in 66 league games, but had to change his position again and again. At first he shuttled between midfield and defense before he was used in the relegation season 1979/80 under three different coaches in all areas of play. In 1977/78 he proved to be a successful goalscorer with five goals. When Chemie Premnitz rose again to the GDR league in 1982, Helmut Lück was no longer part of the squad.

In his seven seasons in higher-class football, he had played 14 league games and 113 GDR league games. Since he was mostly used defensively, he only scored seven goals in the GDR league.
