Helmut Schaumberger (* 1971 in Steyr ) is an Austrian music teacher and choir director .
education
After graduating from high school in Steyr, Helmut Schaumberger studied music education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna as well as German philology at the University of Vienna . He completed his teaching degree with a diploma thesis on Hubert von Goisern, recommended by the Institute for Music Education Vienna as the best review work . In 2018, Helmut Schaumberger received his doctorate in music education from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with a thesis on the professionalization of children and youth choir leaders . His teachers and mentors in choral conducting include Johannes Prinz, Alois Glaßner, Heinz Ferlesch and Herbert Böck.
Teaching and speaking activities
Helmut Schaumberger teaches and researches at the Department of Music Education at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg), of which he has been deputy head since 2019. Artistic creation
After several years as a répétiteur in choirs, Helmut Schaumberger founded the mixed choir wodawindwaht in his home community in 2001, which he directed until 2013 and with which he designed sacred and secular programs. In addition to the festivals Musik am Berg (2004 and 2005) and Kürnberg flies (2008), the Kürnberger Orgelfest (2006) and the like were among the highlights of this collaboration. a. the performance of the rock oratorio Eversmiling Liberty (2010), which was also performed at the theater summer in Haag. From 2016 to 2019 he was the artistic director of the project choir Steyr singt , with which he not only performed large choral / orchestral works, but also realized the anniversary event “ Steyr's Silent Night” on the occasion of 200 years of Silent Night
