Helmut Steiner

Helmut Steiner (born February 7, 1936 in Christophhammer ; † February 14, 2009 in Berlin ) was a sociologist and science historian .

Career

Steiner studied economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1954 to 1958 . In 1963 he did his doctorate at the Humboldt University with a dissertation on the sociology of employees in West Germany. From 1979 to 1991 Steiner was professor of sociology at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . He worked since the 1960s a. a. about problems of current and historical, social and theoretical development in the Soviet Union . From 1990 to 1994 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Utopie Kreativ.

Steiner had been a member of the Leibniz Society since 1994 .
