Gustav-Wilhelm Bathke (born June 24, 1945 ) is a German educational scientist , educational sociologist and university professor .

Gustav-Wilhelm Bathke completed a teaching degree at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 1964 to 1968 , which he completed with the state examination. From 1968 to 1978 he was an aspirant and research assistant in the academic field of university education in the educational science section. In 1976 he was promoted to Dr. paed. PhD .

From 1978 to 1990 he worked in the student research department at the Central Institute for Youth Research in Leipzig and in 1990 was head of department. 1985 at the Academy for Social Sciences the doctorate B to Dr. sc. phil. with the work Socio-structural conditions of origin and personality development of university students. Theoretical-empirical study. In 1988 he became an honorary lecturer for university education at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig .

After the dissolution of the Central Institute for Youth Research, he became head of the branch office of the Hanover University Information System at Leipzig University in 1991 .

Since 1995 he has been a research assistant and private lecturer in the educational sciences department at the Institute for Education at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . In 2000 he was given an extraordinary professorship .

Gustav-Wilhelm Bathke is co-editor of the magazine Das Hochschulwesen , chairman of the Society for Youth and Social Research in Leipzig and a founding member of the “Institute for University Research” association at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Gustav-Wilhelm Bathke has been a member of the “Class and Society Analysis” working group at the Leibniz Society of Sciences in Berlin since 2007 . In 2008 he was elected a member of the firm.
