Helmut Wegner

Helmut Wegner (born April 22, 1931 in Speyer ) is a German diplomat and ambassador a. D.

Wegner joined the Foreign Office after completing his studies . Among other things, he worked in the diplomatic service in India and Japan , but also represented Germany at international conferences and at the United Nations .

From 1992 to 1996 Wegner was the German ambassador in Oslo , Norway . Together with Gerd Høst Heyerdal , Lothar Späth and Kåre Willoch, he is one of four honorary members of the Norwegian-German Society (Norsk-Tysk Selskap) in Oslo. From 1998 to 2002 he was the first chairman of the German-Norwegian Society . V. in Bonn.

He was one of the initiators of the Charter of Europeans in Schengen on November 6, 1999.

Helmut Wegner has been a member of the KDStV Markomannia Würzburg in the CV since 1950 .
