Helmut Wlasak

Helmut Wlasak (born March 26, 1930 in Vienna ; † November 22, 2012 in Ampass ) was an Austrian chamber actor , opera director and theater director .

Life

Helmut Wlasak did not pass the entrance exam at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . After training at the Krauss drama school, he became an actor a. a. at the Theater in der Josefstadt , at the Theater am Parkring, at Stella Kadmon's Theater der Moderne. After four years of engagement in Graz, he and his wife, the actress Sonja Höfer, worked at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck from 1956 .

There he was an actor and opera director as well as artistic director of the Tiroler Landestheater from 1967 to 1992. He played over 5,400 performances and developed and directed 203 productions. He played in film productions such as Convicted 1910 (1974) and Der Fall Jägerstätter (1971). Among other things, he read the entire Bible for an edition of 100 CDs.

In 1971, Helmut Wlasak was invested in the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem at Klosterneuburg Abbey and was most recently a major officer.
