Helmut Yström

Helmut Yström (born March 9, 1881 in Güstrow ; † June 11, 1963 in Cologne ) was a German teacher, police officer, politician ( CDU ) and Senator of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .

biography

education and profession

Yström became an elementary school teacher after attending primary school and a teacher training college. After his military service in the First World War , he was a police officer in Bremen from 1919 until his retirement in 1937 . He rose to higher service in the police hierarchy. He then worked in the industrial sector.

After the Second World War he was employed by the occupation authorities as police chief of Wesermünde (today Bremerhaven) and in autumn 1945 in Bremen. He was put on hold in 1947 and retired in 1948 . His successor as head of the Bremen police force was Franz Noch (SPD).

politics

He joined the CDU. From February to April 1952 and then again from 1955 to 1963 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship . As the successor to Martin-Heinrich Wilkens (CDU), he was Bremen Senator for Food and Agriculture in the SPD / CDU Senate from 1952 to 1955 under the leadership of Wilhelm Kaisen . This department was not occupied again in 1955 and was part of the Economic Senate. During this time, Yström was also the successor to Johannes Degener (CDU) Senator for Housing. This department was also no longer occupied after 1955 and was part of the construction department of Senator Alfred Balcke (SPD).
