Stefan Abadschiew ( Cyrillic Стефан Абаджиев , in Germany mostly transcribed Abadjiev ; born July 3, 1934 in Sofia ) is a former Bulgarian football player and football coach .
Career
Abadjiev won the national youth championship with Levski Sofia in 1952 and joined the first team of the club in 1953, to which he belonged until 1968. With Levski he won the Bulgarian championship three times and the Soviet Army Cup four times . In 1965/66 he took part with his club in the European Cup, where they failed in the last sixteen at Benfica Lisbon . Abadjiev played 27 international matches for the Bulgarian national team and took part with the national team in the 1960 Olympic Games and the 1966 World Cup, although he was not used at the World Cup.
In 1968 Abadjiev emigrated to Germany , where he also worked in football. First he was active as a player at SV Wiesbaden . Then he trained as a football coach at the Cologne coaching academy. After working in this position at ASC Dudweiler from 1974 , he was at the end of the 1974/75 season as the successor to Erwin Türk for five games as coach in the 2nd Bundesliga at Borussia Neunkirchen . 1982/83 he was coach of FC Homburg in the Oberliga Südwest , but was replaced during the season. Then he trained the amateur team of 1. FC Saarbrücken .
