Helmuth von Scheven
Helmuth von Scheven (born February 11, 1901 , † March 6, 1988 ) was a German actor and director .
Life
Von Scheven's artistic focus was on the theater throughout his life. Between 1938 and 1943 he was engaged in the role of character lover at the Staatstheater Kassel . Other stages were the National Theater Mannheim (until 1952) and the stages of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck . There he played numerous character roles such as “Diego” in Agustín Moreto's Donna Diana , the general in Peter Lotar's Image of Man , the “Botzenheim” in Jaroslav Hašek's adventures of the good soldier Schwejk , the “Lt. Cmdr. Queeg ”in Herman Wouk's mutiny on the Caine , the“ Merkur / Sosias ”in Heinrich von Kleist's Amphitryon and the“ Philipp II ”in Schiller's Don Carlos .
In addition, von Scheven increasingly directed. He staged Kleist's broken jug in Mannheim and in 1948 the first performance of Claude-André Puget's “A Little Angel Without Meaning”.
Von Scheven was a rare guest in film and television. Here he worked for example in Helmut Käutner's “Bel Ami”. He finally became known to a wide audience for his role as "Lord Hamilton", a member of the Excentric Club, which he impersonated for over 30 episodes in the adventure series Percy Stuart .
Von Scheven was also active as a speaker for radio plays and dubbing. He spoke the "Diafoirus" in Walter Knaus 'production of Molière's conceited patient , the "Richebon" in a production of Marcel Pagnol's slide of fame and the "Brutus" in Walter Knaus' production of Shakespeare's death after Hermann Rossmann. As a voice actor, he lent his voice to Fred Johnson in Demons of the South Seas, among others .
