Help! My Snowman's Burning Down (German about: Help! My Snowman burns down ) is an American short comedy film directed by Carson Davidson from the year 1964th

action

A jetty on New York Bay, the silhouette of New York City in the background: a man sits fully clothed in a full bathtub, clamps toilet paper into a typewriter and types underwater. When a phone rings, he gets out of the water. On the landing there is a toilet, a door with a frame, a sink and a bathroom cabinet anyway. There is a knock and a stone Indian statue stands in front of the door. Back in the tub, where there is no more water, the man uses a ring that he lowers to fish for a woman who only sticks her hand through the drain. He paints her nails, hands her a filled glass and toasts with her. There is a knock and a train drives by in front of the door. After his return, the woman's hand is gone and the man starts fishing again, this time using a bracelet as bait. Unnoticed, toilet paper wraps around his leg and he follows the paper trail into a bar, where a woman comes out of the paper outline on a wall and walks to him in only underwear. When she wants to continue undressing, he returns to his jetty and sits down in his bathtub in winter clothes. It starts to snow and when only ice cubes come out of the hot water tap, the man unceremoniously lights his hat. There is a knock and the fire brigade is at the door to extinguish the fire. Shortly afterwards the phone rings, but the man apologizes when he picks up the phone because he dialed the wrong number. After flushing the phone in the toilet, the man walks through his door and falls into the water. He climbs the bathtub, which also floats in the water. A toy submarine appears and shoots at the bathtub, which sinks with the man in the water.

production

The film is a surrealistic satire on avant-garde films of the time or an absurd farce. Davidson himself closed his film with the words "The accident you have just witnessed was written, produced and shot by Carson Davidson ..." ("The accident you have just witnessed was written and directed by Carson Davidson ..."). The film was shot in New York City. It was shown at the end of May and beginning of June 1964 at the Cannes International Film Festival .
