Venue

The “Helsinki Klub” is located on the Gerolds site in Zurich, which stretches along the tracks between Hardbrücke station and the Aussersihl viaduct arches . The building of the former car garage is on Geroldstrasse .

music

Many young bands get the chance to prove their skills in «Helsinki» and to mature in the four concerts they can play in one year. The «Helsinki Klub» is one of the few clubs in Zurich that offers live bands a stage every evening.

Every evening bands of different musical styles perform and after the bands DJs play until the early hours of the morning. Rock , Hip-Hop , Rap , Schlager , Pop , Electro and more find their place in the annual 140 events.

Sophie Hunger had her first stage experience as a newcomer in «Helsinki». "Without the relationships I had with the people in the Helsinki Klub, I would not have had the nerve to make my first CD," says the musician who now lives in Berlin.

Local, intercantonal and international artists have already been on stage in «Helsinki».

Since 2004 the band Trio From Hell has appeared as a resident act in the «Helsinki Klub» almost every Sunday evening .

Boogie Woogie crash courses are also held in «Helsinki» . Danceable music from the 20s to 60s is played and swing and lindy hop are danced.

Helsinki Records

Since 2008 there has also been a music label under the name «Helsinki Records» . Its aim is to promote musicians who are connected to the bar even better. Organizational services are offered for the artists so that they can fully concentrate on their creative work.

The music label was founded by Tom Rist (“Helsinki Klub”), Moritz Zumbühl (Creative Studio Feinheit) and the stage actor Christoph Novak ( Soul Stew party series ).

Awards

As part of the Culture Prize, the City of Zurich awarded «Helsinki» the advancement prize in 2009. The choice was justified by the central role that the club plays in Zurich's musical life. Among other things, the “Helsinki Klub” is an important platform for young talent. The sponsorship award is intended to honor the development work and encourage continuation.
