Rainer von viel is a German alternative band from Kempten (Allgäu) . The band consists of the namesake Rainer von viel as well as Mitsch Oko , Dan le Tard and Sebastian Schwab.

history

In 2003 the band Rainer voniele emerged from the solo project of the same name by the singer Rainer von viel alias Rainer Hartmann. The musicians made their first joint appearance at Christmas 2003 at Club Sonneck in Kleinweilerhofen. The singer's solo releases formed the basis of the program.

After winning the protest song contest of the Austrian radio station FM4 in the Vienna Rabenhof Theater in 2005, the live activities were intensified. At first the concerts were played in the duo formation (drums and vocals), later the four-person formation became the standard line-up. The self-titled album Rainer von viel was released at the end of 2005 on their own label, likewise music.

After completing their studies, Hartmann and Schönmetzer moved into a shared apartment on a farm in the Allgäu , in order to lead the band's fortunes from there. In addition to numerous club and festival appearances, the musicians appeared as supporters and part of the live band with Anne Clark at home and abroad.

The political engagement with Attac led the band to the G8 summit in Heiligendamm in 2007 . The title Tanz Deine Revolution was included on the solos sampler Move against G8 . With the Tibetan monk Ven Bagdro a live performance was denied at the Fusion Festival 2007 and vocal tracks were recorded for the upcoming album.

The Berlin label Motor Music signed the band in 2008 and released their next studio album under the title Kauz . The video for the song Plan X , which was written together with And.Ypsilon ( Die Fantastischen Vier ), won first place at the Sehsuchten -Festival in Potsdam in 2009 .

The close succession of concerts by Rainer von Vielens resulted in a separation from Anne Clark. The last joint concert was played in August 2009. In 2010 the album Milch & Honig was released. The video of the single Mein Block became a YouTube hit and was shown on MTV. The band's many concerts are reflected in the album Live den Lebenden , released in 2012 , which contains the best recordings from recent tours. Joint concerts with the ethnographic team Yugra Mary Voldina took the band to Siberia in 2012 .

The band was engaged at the Hanover State Theater . Together with the artistic director of the Junge Schauspiel Hannover , Florian Fiedler (director), the play Mythen der Freiheit was written, set to music and performed. The stage work questions the pigeonhole thinking on the subject of freedom and advocates responsible treatment of people and the environment.

Her fifth studio album Erden, mixed by Jürgen Schlachter ( Kinderzimmer Productions ) and finalized by And.Ypsilon , was released on January 31, 2014 .

In September 2014 Niko Lai left the band. Sebastian Schwab became the new drummer .

In spring 2015, the band made the music for Florian Fiedler's production of Dürrenmatt's The Visit of the Old Lady at Theater Basel . During the time of this theatrical work, the band wrote three pieces (Innocence from the Country, Heart on Hand, Rushing to Each Other), which they took with them on their sixth album Überall Chaos , which was released on February 3, 2017. Published in the summer of 2016 Rainer by many the video for the single We take care of the music of We care a lot - a world hit their youth heroes Faith No More . The single Divan was released on December 2, 2016 .
