history

The founders Marcel Stalder, Adi Pflugshaupt and Christian Niederer (from left to right)

From 2003 to 2006 Dub Spencer & Trance Hill consisted of Marcel Stalder (bass), Adi Pflugshaupt (electronics, saxophone) and Christian Niederer (drums). They released five EPs in self-distribution until the Hamburg music label Echo Beach signed the three Swiss from 2006. Together with the Cologne guitarist Manougazou, the album Nitro was created , which was named Dub album of the month by the German “reggae magazine” Riddim .

In September 2006, Pflugshaupt and Niederer left the band. They were replaced by Julian Dillier (drums), Markus Meier (guitar, vocals) and Philipp Greter (keyboard, organ, melodica, dubs), who as a producer also had an important influence on all other publications.

After the release of the album The Clashification of Dub , which was inspired by the punk band The Clash , the band played a live concert in Berlin for the radio station RBB .

In 2014 Dub Spencer & Trance Hill released the album Burroughs In Dub in honor of and for the 100th birthday of William S. Burroughs , with official support from the William S. Burroughs Foundation in the USA. It is praised in reviews as a timeless recording that features psychedelic, eclectic dub. The hypnotically monotonous voice of Burroughs is closely interwoven with the band's instrumental music.

The experimental singer Bruno Amstad can be heard on some tracks on the ninth album Deep Dive Dub .
