The Hemkebach , also called Hemeckebach , is a flowing water in Kleinherbede . It mostly runs directly on the city limits of Bochum and Witten or the districts of Kaltehardt and Papenholz . It is created by the confluence of two source streams on Urbanusstrasse, northwest of the Kaltehardt sports field. The (piped) mouth into the Oelbach is almost immediately above the Oelbachtal sewage treatment plant . The lower reaches are usually dry due to mining, and it is actually only sewage. In the upper reaches, the brook reaches quality class II .
