Hendrick van Steenwyck the Younger
Hendrick van Steenwyck (the Younger) (* around 1580 in Antwerp , † before 1649 in London ) was a Dutch architectural painter .
He was the son of Hendrick van Steenwyck the Elder , from Steenwijk ( Overijssel ) in the Netherlands , who was also an architectural painter.
He later worked in Antwerp and London . He painted church interiors, large halls and palace rooms with staffage, but also the architectural backgrounds for portraits of other artists. His pictures are frequent (for example in Berlin , in the imperial gallery in Vienna , in the Louvre in Paris , in the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and in the galleries in Dresden and Kassel ). His painterly treatment is freer and broader than that of his father.
