Hendrik Boeschoten

Hendrik Erik Boeschoten (* 1950 in Hilversum ) is a Dutch Turkologist .

Life

From 1968 to 1980 he studied physics, mathematics, history and Turkish studies at the University of Utrecht . In 1970 he graduated in physics, in 1975 in mathematics, and in 1977 in Arabic, Persian and Turkish. Between 1979 and 1990 he worked as a freelance translator on Dutch television. He received his PhD in Turkish Studies in 1980. He worked as an assistant (1980–81) at the Institute for Eastern Studies at the University of Utrecht and at the Faculty for General Linguistics and Literature at the University of Tilburg . Between 1984 and 1991 he taught a Turkish teacher training course in Utrecht. He worked as a lecturer in Turkish Studies at the Universities of Frankfurt am Main (1991–1992), Bamberg (1998) and Gießen (2000–2001). Since 2002 he has held the chair for Turkish Studies at the University of Mainz .
