history

The Henneberg-Kliniken Hildburghausen was opened in 1921 as a district hospital in the former orphanage on Schleusinger Straße. In 1926 the first new installations were made, such as a surgical-gynecological department with the first X-ray facility. This continued until 1944. In 1944 the district hospital became a military hospital for war victims. From 1955, further structural measures were added, such as the extension to the main building in today's Seminarstrasse. An anesthesia department and an intensive care unit were established until 1977 . On July 19, 1991, a new functional building was put into operation.

This was followed by an extension with today's radiology . In 1992/93 the new intensive care unit and the new delivery room were inaugurated and a computer tomograph was purchased. In 1996 a non-profit GmbH was founded in which the former Eisfeld hospital and the former Schleusingen municipal hospital participated. From the same year until 2012, further buildings were built, stations opened and service companies founded.
