The Bad Salzungen Clinic is an acute hospital based in Bad Salzungen and an academic teaching hospital of the University of Jena with regional care.
The third largest hospital in South Thuringia with its twelve specialist and occupational departments, clinics and medical centers, together with the Bad Salzungen Medical Care Center in the immediate vicinity of the hospital and the medical care centers and practices in the area, form a complex health center with regional care mandates for the Wartburg district .
history
The Bad Salzungen Clinic was opened after almost three years of construction in September 2002, in the south-west of the city near the Langenfeld district , as a company sponsored by the Wartburg district in Bad Salzungen under the name of "Klinikum Bad Salzungen GmbH". It is the successor to the hospital “Dr. Sulzberger ”, which was established in 1851 by the Sulzberger Poor and Sick Foundation and existed until 2002, and summarizes the clinic locations that were previously spread over different locations. The hospital pharmacy in Bad Salzungen was housed “Am Markt”, a surgical department in Bad Liebenstein and a psychiatric department in Marienthal .
The medical treatment options and the scope of care have been continuously expanded since the opening. In 2005 the clinic for psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychosomatics was expanded to include a 16-bed ward. In 2007 a palliative care unit with eight beds was set up in the area of the internal medicine clinic. A year later, a separate admission and outpatient department was set up in the Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine .
In 2009 the outpatient center was established, in which the outpatient operating theater center, a pharmacy and various specialists from the in-house medical care center were located. In 2010 the radiology department was expanded and a new MRT machine was purchased. This was followed in 2011 by the restructuring of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics with the aim of improving admission and examination processes and the establishment of a family room. In 2012 the clinic for ear, nose and throat medicine was expanded to include two additional bed rooms. In 2013, the renovation of the patient reception began.
